Product Review: Anytime Menstrual Cup

Menstrual period, menstruation, time of the month, red flag, red days, aunt flo - whatever we want to call it, most of us, ladies, have this on a monthly basis more than half of our lives. In as much as I want to talk about PMS, menstrual cramps, heavy flow, etc., well, I wouldn't. Let us talk about another period related problem that is usually being taken for granted - trash.

Whoa, how can trash be related to period? Unfortunately, most of us use disposables during red days. Napkins, tampons, even diapers - all are being thrown away and end up in landfills. Let's do a simple math, if I am using 4 napkins per day, my period lasts for 3 days, 12 months in a year, for about 30 years - then I am sending a total of 4,320 napkins to the landfill in my lifetime. That's a lot of trash! Actually, I might have sent half of these to the landfill already. Luckily, I will not be sending the other half anymore because I found an alternative to napkins that is reusable, zero-waste and economical - Anytime Menstrual Cup.

A menstrual cup (MC) is a small cup made from medical grade silicone, flexible enough to insert into the vagina. Its function is to catch and collect the flow instead of absorbing it just like what napkins and tampons do. Scary right? Don't worry I felt the same way when I decided to get a cup of my own and tried it for the first time, and now I am on my 6th month of using my Anytime MC.

My Anytime MC. Available in different sizes and colors. Visit their FB page for more information.
Anytime Menstrual Cup is one of the most affordable MC that is locally available. It costs 700php and it is reusable for up to 7 years (some say even up to 12 years). How about that? Less to no trash plus a lot of savings. Here's an illustration from Anytime MC of how much can you actually save if you're going to use your cup for 2 years:

It is really not a joke that using Anytime MC is life-changing. Here is a list of my own observation on using Anytime MC:
1. No leaks. For heavy flow days, I empty my cup every 4 hours and for regular days, every 8 hours.
2. No smell. Nothing literally smells fishy down there.
3. No discomfort. It feels like I am not wearing anything at all. Sometimes, I even forgot that it's in there.
4. No irritation. With napkins, it gets itchy on the 3rd or so days, but with cup nothing :)
5. Short periods, no pahabol days. My average menstrual days in a month is 7. I noticed that when I started using my MC, I only have mine for 3 to 5 days. And no more pahabol days, when it's done, it really is done.

So thank you Anytime Menstrual Cup for changing my period life, it's not only what's in it for me but also what's in it for the environment. Start using Anytime MC today and save yourself from leaks, smell, discomfort, irritation and a lot more; not to mention saving Mother Nature from a lot of thrash. Ladies, it's about time that we do another step towards saving Mother Nature.
